Our Journey
BASE was founded in 2011 by Stuart Bartley and Darren Katchi, both experienced practitioners in the social care and health fields. Soon after its opening Chris Davies, Associate Director of Business, and Alex Bartley, Director of Care and RI, joined to bring their local authority social work experience into the company and complement the management team. Base began initially as a provider of emergency accommodation but in 2019 it changed its focus and decided to specialise in the provision of registered children's home care. It now operates 3 registered children’s homes in the Cardiff area, providing person-centred care and support to children and young people ages 11-19.
Our Mission
To provide person-centred care and support that enables children and young people to acquire the skills and confidence they will need to live independently.
Professional Practice
Our care staff work towards common goals in partnership with social workers, multi-agency workers and key family members. Evidenced-based practice forms the basis of our approach and staff are continually supported to deliver this through good quality training and supervision. Accountability and transparency are fundamental in our delivery.
Our Values
What Matters to Young People
At the heart of our business is what’s important to young people. At BASE we work hard to ensure that young people are listened to and that they feel in control . We aim to support them to strengthen their sense of identity and direction whilst enabling them to feel safe and have a stable environment to live in.
